Writing desk: Why my serial is on hold (and some very exciting news!)
RevPit, Open Novella Contest, and other updates
I’m back with a new update after a little break, and with all the exciting news that led to this break overall!
✨ My sci-fi novel, The Gravity of Hope, is a RevPit winner!
I’m thrilled to share that I was selected for RevPit. If you don’t know, RevPit is an annual competition with the prize to work one-on-one with a professional editor. Find out more on
. I’m working with Miranda Darrow on my sci-fi novel, The Gravity of Hope. This is an absolutely incredible opportunity to polish the book, prepare it for the RevPit showcase on 9 June, and eventually, hopefully, for querying. Here is a little poster I made for the book:
Because of this (and because I know my limits), I’ve decided to pause my cosy fantasy serial, Let Me Be Your Villain, until after June 9. While I finished drafting LMBYV, the next few chapters still need a little bit of a polish before they are ready. It also means that I dropped out of the last round of Open Novella Contest 2025 on Wattpad. This break will let me give both projects the attention they deserve.
Thank you so much for your patience and support! We’re only a few episodes away from wrapping up Draven and Sol’s story, and I can’t wait to finish it with you.
📚 WIP Updates
As per the above, the main focus is on my sci-fi at the moment:
The Gravity of Hope (RevPit sci-fi WIP) → I received my edit letter and I’m very deep in edits; had a high level pass to make major changes across the entire MS, and now I’m well over halfway through the chapter by chapter edits.
Let Me Be Your Villain (cosy fantasy serial) → On hold until after 9 June. I’m planning to finish the last ~6 episodes in late June/July.
Blackblade (high fantasy) → Paused for now. I’ll be picking this back up after the serial wraps.
📝 Exclusive Snippet
In the meantime, here’s a small excerpt from The Gravity of Hope from one of the new chapters I’ve written as part of this revision:
Avery turns his hands, stretching his long fingers. He’s always thought he was born to create. Ships, computers, anything with electric currents running through them. He’s had a sixth sense when it came to engineering, as if the flow of power ran through his blood, and he could direct it with his touch, his thoughts. It was his childhood dream to build a ship that could cross interstellar space. One that could take him to a home where he would be welcome. Where someone waited for him without asking him to pray or lie or kill for their love.
💬 Let’s Chat!
Do you ever juggle multiple creative projects at once? How do you balance them without burning out? I’d love to hear from you!
Thank you so much for reading and cheering me on. See you again soon!

Congrats!! as for multiple projects … it takes so much energy to shift my focus, that I decided in one month on one, the next month on the other. Focused me pretty well: I got both projects finished in two months — and by finished I mean completed first drafts! We’ll see if that keeps working well.
Congrats on the RevPit win! Love both the poster and the excerpt, which reminds me of one of my favourite scifi series of all time: Brandon Sanderson's Skyward. I have so many friends participating in the ONC but I'm terrible at working on multiple WIPs. If I move to a WIP now I'd pretty much abandon my revision lol.
